Conditional Script Loading

Conditional Script Loading

If you have the Layer or Revolution Slider installed, their scripts will load on each and every page of your site, even if the slider is not assigned to one of those pages. This is the default behavior of both of these sliders, and is not related to the theme. The good news is that both of them offer a way to only load the scripts on pages that have the slider on them. Continue reading below to learn how to set this feature up.
How To Configure The Revolution SliderStep 1 – Go to the Revolution Slider Dashboard from the link in your admin sidebar.
Step 2 – Along the top, you will see a menu. Click on Globals.
Step 3 – A dialog will open. Switch the 『Include Libraries Globally』 option off. In the following option, you can also choose to manually add which pages to include RevSlider libraries.

If you see issues, it is recommended to keep them on.

Common Questions & IssuesSlider Alias or ID Not Found For Layer or Revolution SliderIf you already have sliders made, or something goes wrong during the import due to low server memory, its possible that our demo sliders may not be applied to the pages. You may see an error such as Revolution Slider Error: Slider with alias Avada_Full_Width not found or LayerSlider cannot be found. Sliders are applied by the Slider ID. Each slider gets its own unique ID and they are given in numerical order. If you open up a page after importing the content, and you see an error like that, you only need to edit the page and assign the slider to the page. To verify you have the sliders, go to the Layer or Revolution Slider section of your admin to see them listed. If you do not see them, then you can import the sliders separately.
Slider ImagesThe demo sliders are mainly useful to see our settings and see how we built the slides. You need to replace the images with your own because the images are not licensed for your usage. Its very important that you replace each image with your own, the slider may not work if you miss one image so be careful when using these. Check each and every sub layer to ensure it does not have a missing image.

How To Add An Avada SliderThere are two ways to add an Avada Slider to your page. The first is through the Avada Page Options. With this method, you simply create your Slider first, and then go to the page options of the page you want the Slider to display on. On the Slider tab, you can select your chosen slider to display, as well as its position, and a possible fallback image. As of Avada 7.4, you can also choose whether to display the Slider on Desktop, Tablet or Mobile screens.
The other way to add an Avada Slider to your page is with the Avada Slider Element. With this method, you can add the Slider anywhere in your content, in any size Column. See the Avada Slider documentation for more information on that method. The rest of this document covers the process of creating both an Avada Slider, and the Sliders inside it.
How To Create A New Avada SliderBefore you can display an Avada Slider on your site, you must of course first create it. The first step is to create a slider to hold your slides. In this section, we』ll be covering how to create a slider, and the options you can use to customize it.
Step 1 – Navigate to the Avada > Sliders > from your WordPress admin panel.
Step 2 – Directly under the Add Slider section, give your new slider a name by entering it in the 『Name』 field.
Step 3 – Each slider you make can be used as a shortcode in a page or post. Enter a unique shortcode name in the 『Shortcode』 field. Make sure to only use lowercase letter, numbers and hyphens.
Step 4 – Under the 『Slider Size』 option, you can enter your slider』s width and height. The width value can be a percentage or a pixel value, while the height value should be a pixel value. So, if you would like your slider to be full width of the browser window, then you can set your slider』s height to 100%. Otherwise, set it to any pixel value to display the slider at a fixed width.
Step 5 – If you would like your slider to be full screen, then you can check the 『Full Screen Slider』 checkbox. This enables your slider to display 100% width and 100% height of the viewing area, and overrides the height value.
Step 6 – If you』d like your slider to have a parallax scrolling effect, then you can check the 『Parallax Scrolling Effect』 checkbox. Please make sure to read the important information for this option below in the Avada Slider Options section.
Step 7 – There are many other options you can customize, such as the navigation options, autoplay, slide loop, animation, and the like. Please continue reading below for a description about each setting.
Step 8 – Once you are finished customizing your slider, click the 『Add Slider』 button at the very bottom to save your slider.
How To Create An Avada Slider From Avada LiveAdding or creating a new Avada Slider from within Avada Live Builder, is also very easy. As you mouse over the header area, you will see a small panel of icons.
Step 1 – Click on the Add Slider Icon in the Icon Panel in the Header. The Slider tab of the Page Options will open in the Sidebar.
Step 2 – Here you can select an existing slider to add to the page, or you can create a new one. For a completely new Slider, there will be an Avada Slider link in the Important Note section. Click the Avada Slider link and you will be taken to the New Slider page.
Step 3 – Follow the same steps as with the normal process to create a Slider, as listed above.
If the page already has a slider, there will instead be an icon panel in the middle of the slider itself, with options to Edit Slider Options, Edit Slider, or Remove Slider, also seen below.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When the Parallax Scrolling Effect option is enabled, the slider height you input will not be exact, due to negative margin which is based on the overall header size. For example, if you have a header size of 50px, and you』ve set your slider to have a height of 500px, then your slider will be 450px high when displayed on the front end of your site. How To Assign A Slider

How To Assign A Slider

There are two methods you can use to assign a slider to a page. You can assign a slider to a page using the Avada Fusion Page Option, and second, you can insert the slider via our Fusion Page Builder using Builder elements. Read below for more information on each method.
Assign A Slider Via Fusion Page OptionsWhen assigning a Slider using the Fusion Page Options, the Slider will always be displayed directly below the main menu as this is the default setting. This ensures that the Slider isn』t affected when adjusting your sites Page』s Top Padding.

The slider type you choose will determine what Fusion Page Options are available to configure for the slider; For example: The Revolution Slider has the option to Enable / Disable Avada styles, the other slider choices do not have this option, etc.
For Revolution, Layer, Elastic and Fusion Sliders on mobile devices, there is a 『Slider Fallback Image』 field in the Fusion Page Options that lets you upload a Fallback Image which will override the slider on all responsive devices.

Avada Slider ElementsWhen you assign a Slider Element to a page or post, via the Fusion Builder, it』ll be treated as a normal element. You can add it to Columns, save it as a Custom Content Template etc. When added to a page, adjusting your Page』s Top and Bottom Padding will affect the Slider. Lastly, because it』s inserted using an element, you can also set it』s visibility settings for mobile, tablet and desktop devices.

Live Responsive Editing in Avada

Live Responsive Editing in Avada

Avada has offered live editing for some time, with Avada Live, our awesome front end Page Builder. And with Avada 7, we now offer Live Responsive Editing. This completely changes the way you can design your pages for tablet and mobile. Read below to explore how easy it is to edit your pages for responsive content in Avada, and watch the video for a visual overview.,Responsive Editing ModeThe key to Live Responsive Editing in Avada Live is the Responsive Icon on the Toolbar. Not only does this provide responsive previews for your content, but it is now a responsive editor.
You can choose from Large, Medium or Small Screen. These give you an emulated preview of your page content as it will appear on the selected screen size, and hides any containers etc. that are turned off for that screen size. But with Avada 7 and up, it also allows you to edit any of the options that are part of the Responsive Option Sets, and only have the changes you make reflected at that specific screen size. This is achieved through the Responsive Option Sets feature, introduced in Avada 7.
What this means, is that you can now present the same content in completely different ways on Large, Medium and Small screens. For example, you can change the margins and padding of Containers, change the width and order, as well as the spacing, margins and padding of Columns.,How Does It Work? There are many form factors today with screens. What with desktops, laptops, tablets and smart phones, there is a huge range of aspect ratios, and it』s sometimes very difficult to tell what your content will look like on every device.
We have simplified this dilemma, by offering three screen size breakpoints, corresponding to the three major device types – desktop and laptop computers, tablets, and smart phones. And with the Avada Global Options, you can specify at what pixel dimensions these layouts kick in when the website is viewed on the front end.
Just head to Avada > Options > Responsive, and here, in the Element Responsive Breakpoints section, you can determine the breakpoints at which Medium and Small screens begin. The Responsive Previews in the builder will always show the layout for Medium and Small screens regardless of what values you enter into the options here, but the preview size will change.

By default, options flow through the various screen sizes. So if you make a change while in Large Screen to the Margins of a Column, then that change will also be reflected in Medium and Small Screen views.
But the Responsive Option Sets allows you to break that connection, and edit independently for both Medium and Small Screens. Any changes made to any of the options that are part of the Responsive Option Sets will only affect the Screen size you are editing.
With Containers, there are only a couple of options that are part of the Responsive Option Sets. These are Margins and Padding. But with Columns, there are five options, all under the design tab, that you can make great changes to your layouts with. They are Column Width, Column Order, Column Spacing, Margins and Padding. Check out the How To Set The Display Order And Size Of Columns In Responsive Layouts doc for more details and some specific examples.,Default Column BehaviorTo have full control over responsive design, it』s also important to understand the default behavior of Columns at various screen sizes. This is found at Avada > Avada Builder Elements > Column.
Here you can see two options which determine the default behavior for Columns on both Medium and Small Screens. The default behavior is that Columns on Medium Screens inherit the layout from Large Screens, and that Columns on Small Screens go Full Width.
You can change the default behavior for each size screen, or you can use the Responsive Option Sets to just change some of the Columns in each screen size using Live Responsive Editing. You decide.

GDPR and Avada Privacy Tools

What is the GDPR?The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is Europe』s new framework for data protection laws, replacing the 1995 data protection directive. It is designed so that website owners can be more transparent in how they collect, use, and share personal data. Likewise, it also provides individuals access and choice when it comes to how their own personal data is collected, used, and shared. The GDPR came into effect on the 25th of May, 2018.

The Avada WordPress theme as an entity does not violate GDPR criteria because it does not collect any data. What we as a team have done, is to give our Avada userbase the tools necessary to ensure that their websites are GDPR compliant. These new privacy tools and options were introduced in Avada 5.5.2, released May 22nd, 2018.

In the following, we want to present you the main new features in Avada 5.5.2 and above.
Google FontsWhen you are using Google fonts that usually mean retrieving the font files from their API, which includes sending the IP addresses of your users (which are considered to be private data) to Google. You might find that circumstance worrisome, but at the same time you don』t want to do without the nice typography options Google fonts offer. Avada to the aid. We have added a new Theme Option that easily allows you to decide whether Google fonts should retrieved via the Google fonts API, or if they should be hosted locally on your server. View the new Theme Option below.
How To Offload Google FontsUser Control Over Third Party EmbedsAvada offers a variety of elements and widgets that help you to utilize third-party content, like YouTube and Vimeo videos, Google Maps, Facebook and Twitter timeline, Flickr images, SoundCloud files, etc. While all of these third party services enrich your websites, they also do collect data about your users. IP addresses, location data or user activity tracking, to name a few. Under the GDPR it is necessary to ask visitors for their explicit consent if data should be passed along to third parties. While that is generally not possible to achieve with embeds, on the other hand, similar to Google fonts, you don』t want to lose these services on your site.
Our development team has come up with a very nice and easy to use solution. We added a new Theme Option to prevent embeds from loading until user consent is granted. For any of the third party services, which you can freely choose from, you add to the consent list, the embeds will stop to be loaded on page load. Instead, your users will see a placeholder graphic, with custom text on it and a button to accept this third-party service. The background color and text color for that placeholder can be set in Theme Options.
Privacy ElementAlso new is the Avada Builder Privacy Element. With this Element you can easily add to your privacy policy page, or wherever it fits best for your site. It will display checkboxes for all services you chose, and will show to each of your users which of the services they have consented to and which not. They can also easily update their consents within that element.
The whole setup is cookie driven, and thus we also added an option, so that you can set a custom expiration date for that cookie. Once it is expired your users will have to set their consents newly according to their preferences. Check out the images below of these third-party embed tools and settings.
More Privacy Element InfoPrivacy BarIn Avada 5.6, we added a privacy bar, displayed at the bottom of your website, which gives you options to notify your website visitors regarding 3rd party embeds, tracking codes, and any custom cookie contents that you may require. Enabling the Privacy Bar options will give access to additional options that will help you style and personalize privacy bar. These options are located in the Avada > Theme Options > Privacy section.
More Privacy Bar InfoContact Form Consent CheckBoxIn Avada 5.5.2 we added a new option to display a consent checkbox on the contact form page. The label can be easily customized in Theme Options to reflect your needs which you can view below.
Custom Message On Registration ElementIn previous versions, we used the default WordPress note before the submit button on the user registration element in Avada Builder. In Avada 5.5.2, to give you full freedom of choice, and added a new setting to show custom text before the submit if you want to inform a new user about GDPR compliance. View the new custom registration notice message field for the user registration element below.

How To Remove Prebuilt Website Content After Import

How To Remove Prebuilt Website Content After Import

When experimenting with your site, you may want to try different prebuilt websites. If you have already imported a prebuilt website and would like to try a different one, you can use the methods mentioned below to remove the imported prebuilt website content. You may also find this useful if a prebuilt website was imported more than once, and you have some duplicate content.
ApplicationsRemoving Prebuilt Website Content To Import A New One – You can use the methods described below to remove imported prebuilt website content if you want to make a clean import of a new one. If you don』t remove the old prebuilt website content before starting an additional import, you may see elements and settings from the old website which could affect the layout and the design of the newly imported prebuilt website.
Removing Duplicate Prebuilt Website Content – Sometimes, importing a prebuilt website can take a few minutes. Duplicate prebuilt website content occurs when the 『Import』 button is clicked multiple times. For example, if you click 『Import』 twice, there』s a possibility that all the prebuilt website content will be imported twice. Note: It will not be possible to import duplicate prebuilt website content on sites using Avada 5.2+ unless you already had prebuilt website content imported from an earlier version when you imported the prebuilt website again. That is because it』s not possible to import the same prebuilt website twice on Avada 5.2+, without first removing the originally imported content.
Method 1: Remove Imported Content Through the Avada Prebuilt Website ImporterIMPORTANT NOTE: Method 1 will only work for Avada 5.2 or higher and with prebuilt website content that was imported into that version or higher. Prebuilt website content that was already imported on versions below 5.2 won』t be identified by the 5.2+ Prebuilt Website Importer as anything but normal WordPress content. As of Avada 5.2, you can use the Avada Prebuilt Website Importer tool to also remove / uninstall imported Prebuilt Website content.
Step 1 – Navigate to Avada > Websites and find the Prebuilt Website you』re wanting to remove from your site.
Step 2 – Hover over the Prebuilt Website image and select the 「Modify」 button.
Step 3 – In the lower right-hand corner of the popup window, check the box beside 「Uninstall」 and click 「Remove「.
Note: This will remove any content that was imported through the Importer. If you』ve modified posts / pages and want to keep those, you should save them as a template in the Library so they can be imported again for later use.
Method 2: WP Reset PluginIMPORTANT NOTE
Using WP Reset Plugin will REMOVE all of your database content. It does not remove a theme or plugin folder, but all site content such as posts, pages, media, etc. will be lost. USE WITH CAUTION!This plugin is the fastest way to get back to the starting point of a WordPress install. However, it will remove all content from your database and leave the default theme activated. It does not remove plugins, but will deactivate them. This plugin will remove all pages, posts, menus, sliders, widget data, theme options, etc. Only do this if you are wanting to start over from a fresh WordPress install.
Download WP Reset PluginStep 1 – Download and install the WP Reset Plugin.
Step 2 – After installing the WP Reset Plugin, go to your WordPress plugins page and activate the plugin.
Step 3 – Navigate to Tools > WP Reset, and at the very bottom, you』ll find the 『Site Reset』 option.
Step 4 – You must first type reset in the text box before you can click 『Reset』.
Step 5 – A warning pop up will appear informing you again that this action is irreversible. If you』d like to proceed, click 『Ok』.
Step 6 – Once finished, you』ll be left with a clean WordPress install. You can then re-activate Avada and the included plugins, then import the next prebuilt website you』d like to try or begin adding your own content.
Method 3: Manual RemovalThis method will take longer and requires more work but can be done if you want to only remove specific content and keep other prebuilt website content. This method simply involves manually removing/deleting the prebuilt website content items. For example, you would need to go to your 「Pages」 section and select the page or pages you want to remove and delete them. Repeat this process as needed through the various content areas in WordPress. You can use this method if you』ve already created pages and posts or edited some of the prebuilt website pages/posts and don』t want to lose that work.
